AKA's upcoming album could be his last... for now?

In a tweet a few days ago, South African rapper AKA revealed that his third studio album Touch My Blood could be his last album.

Supa Mega also revealed that the upcoming album is his best album to date.

Of course, AKA is a master when it comes to publicity stunts, so it will remain to be seen if it will in-fact be his last.

Yup. This is it. This is his last album. He wants to do other things with his life beyond music. He is a father and a businessman. He has a company to run and he will be focusing on that and other projects. He will always be AKA and will dip in and out of music.

With the launch of his company Beam Digital, TimesLive quoted him as saying that he had no intentions of being a performance artist forever.

People need to become owners," he told the website, explaining his reasons for venturing into business. "We've been bled dry for way too long. It's time for us to smarten up and realize we can't sing songs forever. What am I going to do—perform and perform for the next five years?

Irrespective of what follows, AKA has become one of the most formidable hip-hop artists to come out of South Africa and Africa, respectively. He broke into mainstream radio play with his single Victory lap, which became an anthem across the country.

Whether this is his last album or not, he's definitely created an exceptional brand for himself and hopefully, this won't be the last we hear of Mr Forbes.

TimesLive also reported that AKA will perform at this year's SXSW in Texas.

SXSW (South by Southwest) is an annual conglomerate of film, interactive media, and music festivals and conferences that take place in mid-March in Austin, Texas, United States. It began in 1987, and has continued to grow in both scope and size every year. Source: SXSW
