The Chainsmokers sell-off song rights

The Chainsmokers’ writer and publishing rights have been sold!

Hipgnosis Songs and its investment adviser, The Family (Music) Limited, have purchased the rights to the catalog for an undisclosed amount.

Hipgnosis acquired 100% of The Chainsmokers’ interest in a total of the 32 songs the EDM duo have released thus far in their career – including ‘Closer’, which featured Halsey; ‘Don’t Let Me Down’ with vocals from Daya; and ‘Roses’.

The deal also includes 10 additional songs written by the group’s Andrew Taggart, including ‘1-800-273-8255’ by Logic, Alessia Cara and Khalid.

Meanwhile, ‘Who Do You Love’ was the biggest dropper on the Coca-Cola Top40SA with Carl Wastie this past weekend (24 Aug 2019), down 8 places since last week, to no.32.
